Project Homeless Connect 2014

Project Homeless Connect 14 is a free resource fair open to people of all ages who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless that provides services in one place. Community partners will provide free services ranging from medical care, legal help, benefit assistance, clothing, haircuts, hygiene bags and additional services. Denver’s Road Home, Mile High United Way and the City & County of Denver are seeking more than 1,000 volunteers to help before, during and after the event. Client Services

November 17 at 10:30am - 3:30pm

Volunteers are paired one-on-one with clients and will help them prioritize and navigate the services provided at Project Homeless Connect. Volunteers will conduct a brief interview with the client, fill out the client intake survey form and accompany clients to different service areas. They are to stay with the client for the entirety of the day; from the time the client arrives to the time the client leaves. if a volunteer finishes with one client before the end of the event, they are encouraged to assist another client.

All Client Services volunteers must attend ONE mandatory training before the event. Training options and sign up can be found at the bottom of the PHC14 page.

Pre-Event Prep

November 16 at 2:30pm - 6:30pm

Assist with set-up the afternoon before the event at the Colorado Convention Center. Set-up includes loading in supplies, set up of signage, unloading of rented supplies and setting up tables and chairs, preparing lunches, and organizing and preparing clipboards.

Volunteer check-in

November 17 at 8:30am - 1:30pm

Check-in volunteers as the arrive to the event. Provide instructions and directions to designated volunteer areas and manage volunteer paperwork. When all volunteers are checked-in, turn in check-in forms to area lead. Hand out t-shirts to volunteers.

Meal Service

Supply Handout

Volunteers will run and manage the cupply handout station. This includes handing out donated supplies to clients as they arrive for the event.

Event Tear-Down

November 17 at 3pm - 6pm
By: Mile High United Way
Assist with tear-down after the event is over. Includes leading supplies from the concourse to vehicles outside the venue, tearing down signs, gathering clipboards and breaking down tables and chairs. Tear-down will begin at 3pm at the Colorado Convention Center. The more people that help the faster it will be done!

Discharge

Discharge is the last stop for participants before they leave the event. Please confirm that participants received appropriate support and needed services for the day. Collect and organize clipboards, completed intake forms and participant surveys. Please plan to stay until all participants have left the event.

Bag Check/Lost and Found

November 17 at 10am-4pm

Volunteers will check participants coats, backpacks and other belongings at the event as well as serve as the lost and found point at the event. You will be able to use coat check tickets to identify participant items. Please plan to stay until participants are gone.

Welcome Team

November 17 at 9:30am - 1:30pm

Volunteers will be stationed at sites around the Convention Center. they will be greeting and providing directions for volunteers and clients as they arrive, help traffic flow smoothly as volunteers and clients form a line. 

Other jobs may include handing out coffee and snacks to those waiting in line.

Information Desk

There will be 2-4 information desks at the event. 2 volunteers will staff each information desk and provide assistance to clients, volunteers and service providers. This may include handing out maps, resource materials, fielding FAQ's and general event information.

Provider Support

November 17 at 9am - 4pm

Greet and assist resource providers (those giving/providing the specific services to clients) as they arrive for PHC. Help with loading and delivering of items from provider cars to their booths on the concourse. Offer provider assistance as needed throughout the day including bringing food, water and suppies as needed to the provider staff.

Volunteers will help direct traffic at the most congested service sites. Duties will include making sure clients are in the correct line and have the correct paperwork for that line.
