What is Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) Colorado?

  • An international literature festival that brings together authors and ideas from across Colorado and around the world through music, discussions, and workshops.

  • The original festival started in Jaipur, India (also known as “the Pink City”) in 2006 and has grown through collaboration and volunteerism.

  • Sister festivals are hosted in various cities around the world, including Boulder, Colorado, (at Boulder Public Library) for the past 10 years.

  • Jaipur Literature Festival Colorado is free to attend, and community members and visitors of Boulder are encouraged to volunteer and participate.

What do volunteers do? From start to finish, volunteers are the heartbeat of the festival. Volunteer shifts are each about 3 hours long during the morning, afternoon, and evening. Snacks and coffee are available for volunteers during the festival in the Volunteer Lounge.

  • Event Preparation (Ironing Banners, Event Preparations)
    • Prepare materials, decorate the library leading up to the festival.

  • Attendee Support (Registration, Greeter)
    • Register patrons, check in attendees, provide directional support, create a welcoming environment.

  • Author Support (Author Liaison, Author Lounge, Book Signing)
    • Ensure authors arrive to sessions and book signings on time, ensure authors have a designated space to rest in-between speaking engagements.

  • Venue Support (Venue Assistant, Venue Usher, Production)
    • Facilitate safe and efficient use of venue spaces. Production Volunteers set up and transition spaces for music, discussions, and workshops. Ushers help attendees find seats, record attendance, and tidy up in-between sessions.

  • General Support (Floater, Volunteer Lounge, Photographer)
    • "Floater" volunteers are adaptable and support various areas of the festival as it unfolds. The Volunteer Lounge Coordinator supports the larger volunteer team by giving out t-shirts, coffee, snacks, and check-in instructions. Photographers capture the magic and memorable moments.

Please sign up to volunteer by Sept. 10 at midnight. If you have questions or need help signing up, please message admin through this sign-up page or call 983-444-2060
