JA in a Day is a special Junior Achievement program that allows a group of volunteers to adopt an entire school (or part of a school) for a day! This is a wonderful way to join together and inspire a large amount of students in a short amount of time. In addition being a great team-building experience, JA in a Day provides opportunities for publicity and a chance for volunteers to give back to the community.
JA in a Day volunteers help educate and inspire youth about the connection between education and success the workplace, and learn about financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. At the end of the school day, the students will have completed all five (or six, depending on the grade level) lessons and will have earned their JA certificate. Normally, this process would take five (or six) weeks to complete.
All volunteers receive a kit of hands-on materials tailored to their middle school grade level. Everything needed to conduct the program is included in the kit. Volunteers participate in a ninety minute training session with JA staff, and spend additional time independently preparing so they are fully prepared for a successful day in the classroom.
