Weekly Storytime Helper at Gunbarrel Library

Gunbarrel Library is looking for a weekly helper for Toddler Time! Each Thursday, toddlers (16-36 months) and caregivers explore language and books. Programs include rhymes, songs, and books as well as additional time for free play, socializing, and informal discussion of early childhood development.

Volunteer Role Description:

The Storytime Helper helps set up, clean up, and support Storytime. The volunteer tasks differ week to week.

Volunteers will:

• Chat with library staff person to go over the Storytime plan before program start time
• Follow library staff person's lead and direction
• Count and record attendance
• Distribute manipulatives (scarves, bells, maracas, etc.) to children and caregivers and collect them at end of Storytime

Volunteers may also:

• Distribute stickers to attendees at the end of Storytime
• Bring out free play toys at conclusion of Storytime and spend some time socializing and interacting with children and caregivers in Storytime area
• Disinfect and put away Storytime materials
• Empty and clean bubble machine

Volunteers should be enthusiastic about working with young children and their caregivers and be willing to clean up after the kids!

Time Commitment: 

After training and background check, volunteer will commit to a weekly shift on Thursday mornings, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at Gunbarrel Library. The Storytime program runs 10:15 - 10:45 a.m.
