Thorne Nature Experience

Thorne Nature Experience is a non-profit organization that is committed to building Earth stewardship by connecting youth to nature through joyful, hands-on, place-based environmental education experiences.  Founded in Boulder, CO in 1954, Thorne has a rich history and has reached more than 200,000 children and adults through its programs. In 2018, the North American Association for Environmental Education gave us an award for Outstanding Service to Environmental Education for our collective impact project Nature Kids, and for our innovative approach to EE.

We are looking for help getting youth outside and connecting to the wild landscapes of Colorado!  Opportunities vary by season, time commitment, age requirements, and location.

Education Program volunteers might assist with our outdoor Nature Preschool in Boulder, lead 2nd Grade Field Trip Programs in Boulder and Longmont, facilitate After School Programs in Boulder County schools, or assist with Summer Camp Programs across Boulder County and Littleton area open spaces.

Administrative Volunteers might work on fundraising, outreach, social media, writing and assembling student-authored Mini Books, bird banding data entry, land management, and so much more!

All Volunteers and Interns work closely with Thorne staff with the goal of connecting youth to nature.
