I went to an MPC workshop on heterosexism. What I thought was really great was how intersectional they made the workshop. They made sure to address all forms of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and how historically marginalized communities such as people of color and women fit into that. The history lesson, especially the part about Paris Is Burning, was great context for further discussion. One of the most striking statistics to me was how of all the major films produced in 2016, only 1 had a transgender or gender fluid character, and that person was used as the butt of a joke. The workshop facilitators made the workshop very engaging and interactive, and made sure to respect the space they were in and those in the space. A very positive experience overall.
