Volunteers may participate in one of two ways. The first is to work directly with our clients as a shopping assistant. These volunteers will greet clients, help them find the school clothes they need for their children and check them out when finished shopping. These volunteers need to show a great deal of patience and empathy towards our shoppers who often are in challenging circumstances and sometimes don't speak English. The second volunteer role is to process incoming donations. These volunteers will sort, tag, size and hang clothing needed to restock the store. This role is essential to keeping the store fully stocked to give our clients the most variety to meet their needs. Volunteers may also tidy the store, straighten clothing, vacuum, take out the recycling and other jobs needed to keep the store looking its best. There may be other needs on any given day but those are the primary functions our volunteers serve. We have a door to the main store and a door to the Donation Center. Come in the door to the Donation Center (left of the barber shop). When you arrive, please ask for Lisa Maloney, the store manager. We suggest you wear comfortable shoes since volunteers will be on their feet the entire shift. Dress in layers since the temperature varies widely depending on which part of the store you are in. People may want to bring a water bottle.
