December Clean Lady Bird Lake

Greetings Volunteers, we’d like to thank you for volunteering for Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake event. You'll be joining 100+ other volunteers to give some extra care to the lake and trails. You have signed up to participate in the Zach Theatre Shoreline cleanup. All ages are welcome at this site with adult supervision. *Just as a reminder, this is a shoreline cleanup and does not involve boats.*

Your Lake Leader for this site will be Natalie Meyersick from Kinetic Temple Massage and she will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

·        Starting Location: Zach Theatre (202 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704)

·        Parking: Parking is available on site in lots and along W Riverside. *Please note that the clean-up site will be located across from the Northside of Zach Theatre near W Riverside Dr.*

·        Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water, a hat, and a snack

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity. 
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
• Per Texas State Law, life vests are required for everyone and must be worn at all times for anyone 13 years and younger. For more information, consult TPWD for more information. 

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
