2025 Big Sugar Classic Gravel and MTB (old)

These course marshals must be 14+ and accompanied by an adult. We'll get you a tee, vest, and sign and assign you a marshal position upon check-in with the volunteer coordinator, Heather.  

Downtown Marshals, unlike other on course marshals, ARE empowered to direct traffic to a certain extent. We will place you at several intersections in the last mile of the course. At all of these points, except for the N 5th & Main, the riders will have the right of way vs cross traffic. As marshals it is your responsibility to help keep our riders safe and to cheer them into the finish! The intersections with NE Park, N 7th, and N 6th all have stop signs for cars entering from the riders' right side. Help make sure no cars pull out in front of oncoming riders. The intersection with N 5th & Main is tricky. Riders are turning left with about 450 meters to the finish line. We will have police on hand for the first part of the race to make sure there is no problem with the very front of the race. Later on, Downtown Marshals will need to help enforce the stop sign if it looks like a rider is going to roll through it into oncoming or cross traffic. The intersection of N Main St with N 3rd is super important as riders enter the finishing chute in the last 150 meters. Marshals here definitely need to make sure cross traffic on 3rd St does not pull out in front of any riders throughout the day. Report to Heather at the Arvest Bank in Downtown - come through on the BACK side in the conference center access off Main and Legion.
