Austin Rowing Club Cleanup

Hello Volunteers! We’d like to thank you for volunteering with Keep Austin Beautiful & Austin Rowing Club. You'll be working on giving some extra care to the lake and trails of our beloved Lady Bird Lake. A watercraft will be provided to you by Austin Rowing Club so there is no fee associated. *If you are no longer able to attended, please cancel your shift so the spot opens for the next volunteer.*

Your Lake Leader for this site will be Aubrea Rudder from the Austin Rowing Club and she will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

·    Starting Location: Waller Creek Boathouse (74 Trinity Street, Waller Creek Boathouse, Austin, TX 78701)

·    Parking: Please note that there is no parking available at the boat house so you will need to find street side parking or a spot at the Convention Center Parking Garage, 201 East 2nd St. – with entrances on Brazos St and San Jacinto. (No cash accepted)

·    Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water, sunscreen, and snack

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity. 
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
