Description

Raising Expectations is a non-profit mentoring and tutoring program that works to educate and empower youth in challenging circumstances. The organization’s mission is to empower youth in crisis by elevating academic, social and civic expectations to facilitate high school graduation and post-secondary plans. Raising Expectations is a STEAM-focused youth mentorship and advocacy organization that has served communities throughout Atlanta for over 25 years.

The SAL role is an ideal position for a current upperclassman student, recent graduate or graduate-level student weighing their career options in STEM-related fields, education, organizational and nonprofit management, sociology, and/or psychology. This is also a great opportunity for a candidate to explore career interests and serve the community supporting Atlanta Public Schools’ most historical cluster of schools. This part-time position will allow the candidates the opportunity to learn and be engaged in many conversations around educational reform, as the cluster of schools served by Raising Expectations is ever evolving. Finally, the SAL role provides the opportunity for candidates to use their life and college experience to impact the lives of students residing in an under-served and under-resourced community.
