Austin Rowing Club Cleanup

Hello Volunteers! We’d like to thank you for volunteering with Keep Austin Beautiful & Austin Rowing Club. You'll be working on giving some extra care to the lake and trails of our beloved Lady Bird Lake. You have signed up to participate in the Austin Rowing Club Shoreline cleanup. *Just as a reminder, this is a shoreline cleanup and does not involve boats.*

Your Lake Leader for this site will be the Staff at Austin Rowing Club and they will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

Starting Location: Austin Rowing Club (74 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701)

Parking: Please note that there is no parking available at the boat house so you will need to find street side parking or a spot at the Convention Center Parking Garage, 201 East 2nd St. – with entrances on Brazos St and San Jacinto. (No cash accepted)

Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water

Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity. 
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.

A NOTE ON SAFETY: We encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
