September Clean Lady Bird Lake

Greetings Volunteers, we’d like to thank you for volunteering for Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake event. You'll be joining 100+ other volunteers to give some extra care to the lake and trails. You have signed up to participate in the Capital Cruises Waterway cleanup. A watercraft will be provided to you by Capital Cruises and there is no fee associated.

Your Lake Leader for this site will be The Capital Cruises Staff and they will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

• Starting Location: Volunteers will meet in front of Capital Cruises (208 Barton Springs Rd., Austin, TX 78704)
• Parking: Parking is available underneath the S. 1st bridge or the Vic Mathias Shores parking lot

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
• For directions on where you are going for your cleanup - look at the Clean Lady Bird Lake Maps available!

Thanks again for being involved in making Austin such a unique and beautiful place to live and experience! See you on the lake!
