Description

Join Art From the Streets (AFTS) as we bring creativity, connection, and dignity directly to individuals experiencing homelessness at Austin’s shelters and navigation centers. Our outreach sessions offer a welcoming, judgment-free space where participants can create art, relieve stress, and explore creative expression. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, and no artistic experience is required.

If you are new or want a refresher, check out our Outreach Orientation

What You’ll Do

    • Help AFTS staff set up fun, mobile art stations at partner shelters and navigation centers
    • Welcome participants, pass out supplies, and cheer on their creativity in a kind and supportive way
    • Build positive connections with artists who may be joining us for the first time
    • Lend a hand with clean-up and organizing at the end of each session
    • Be a warm, encouraging presence and help remind everyone that creativity is for everyone
