This was a good location to meet and interact with many homeless people. I worked with 2 other volunteers and that was a good number for the location. For future reference, we should have been set up before the library opened because there were many people standing in line for the doors to open that appeared to be experiencing homelessness and we had no surveys or supplies to survey those people before they entered the library. It was harder to get interaction as people left. I think we had a very successful morning.

The training was good but the online survey proved difficult to use in the unsheltered areas. It was hard to see in the dark to fill in the surveys. Next year, I would recommend headlamps. It was great to have so many things to hand out to the people we interacted with as they were all very grateful. I was grateful to be on a team with a leader who was directly related to and informed on the needs of the homeless. It was very interesting and I will continue to volunteer in areas that focus on making a difference in the lives of our homeless population.

This is my 2nd year as a volunteer. It is an incredibly humbling and rewarding experience. I was moved by the people I interfaced with again this year. I will definitely be back again next year. This is a great outreach and help to our homeless community.
