I spent a few hours helping wrap Christmas presents to families in need donated by PlainsCapital Bank. These gifts will go to families who don't have the means to by their children gifts for the holiday season. It was a great experience getting to help make a difference for people.

I spent two hours at Feed My People where I helped distribute breakfast to homeless people in Downtown Austin. It was a great experience being able to help those less fortunate and was very eye opening! I volunteer with Feed My People several times through out the year and I always enjoy it.
At Inside Books Project I volunteered by writing reading letters by those who are currently incarcerated in Texas. After reading their letters, I would write back and select a few books (fictional, non fictional, or educational) that I think they might enjoy. It was an enlightening experience about a group of people that are often shunned from the public view.
I helped write letters to family and friends on behalf of my sorority explaining to them what our philanthropy is (Breast Cancer Education and Awareness) in hope that they may donate. I also plan on attending/helping plan out my chapter's Z factor (our main philanthropy event) where all the proceeds will be going to Breast Cancer Awareness in the Austin area.
I volunteered with my sorority's Think Pink committee which is aimed in promoting the health and education of women. I attended a couple of meetings where we discussed our plans. I also went to a few other greek houses on campus and tied a pink bow around a tree in their front yard in order to promote the awareness of women's health. I also tabled on the west mall where I passed out "think pink" ribbons to those walking by. It was a great experience getting to work with my sorority sisters on a philanthropy that I care so much about!
I volunteered for a total of 2 service hours at Feed my People. Here I helped distribute breakfast and hygiene products to the homeless community of Austin. It was a very humbling experience getting to help people who truly need it.
Again, it was a great experience being able to select books and write letters in return to inmates in Texas prison's who were requesting reading materials. I think this is a great non-profit organization that is really in place to make a difference in the people that we often forget might need some help as well.
I spent 3 hours working with other volunteers stocking and organizing donated food for the homeless in the downtown area of Austin. It was a rewarding experience being able to directly influence someone's way of life.
At inside books project, we spend our time reading letters from incarcerated inmates in the state of Texas about what books they would like to read. We then select books according to their interests that we think they would enjoy. I really enjoyed volunteering here because it gave me a new insight to some of the pain these people go through. I really felt like I was personally getting to make a difference in these peoples lives just by writing a letter back to them and picking out 2 or 3 books for them to read.
The Texas Advocacy Project is an organization that I have volunteered with in the past. This time, I got to wrap presents and handle other preparations for the holiday season for the organization. The organization serves as a safe haven for those in domestic violent situations and offer them help. I am very passionate about this organization and love every opportunity I get to volunteer with them.
