I volunteered with UT Recsports outreach program and the UT Stream Team. I was initially supposed to spend part of my day paddleboarding with children from a settlement home out on town lake, but due to the weather my volunteer opportunity took quite the turn. About once or twice a semester, UT Recsports hosts this opportunity, and as a water front certified life guard I always volunteer. However given the drizzle, winds, and generally gloomy day, the settlement home cancelled and my services ended up being provided to this UT organization. I ended up joining and aiding the UT Stream Team and Recsports members in a training event that was decided on in place of the settlement home activity. This was by far the most fun volunteer opportunity I have had so far. I feel I got just as much out of this experience as I put in.

I have volunteered with the facility ops council for 2 semesters now, and though last semester was excellent, I enjoyed this semester far more. As UT recsports enters its 100th year anniversary we have had opportunities to assist and coordinate with many events and activities that are outside of our usual spectrum. I have volunteered 7-pm on 1/29, 2/25, 3/24, and have another meeting on the 4/21. Contact info Erin M. Erford erin.erford@austin.utexas.edu
I volunteered with UT Recsport's Facility Operations council, coordinating events and drives such as Orange Santa, tabled for student opportunities, and hosted/planned public and private events. Student life, wellness and organizations were the focus of our group. I included the total hours I spent volunteering with Facility ops through the span of the semester. Our first meeting was on Monday, Sept. 13th, the second Oct. 12th 7:30-9:30, our third Nov. 9th and the final meeting was Dec. 7th. There were other activities in addition to these meetings. Our professional supervisor was Erin M Erford erin.erford@austin.utexas.edu.

Great scenery and family fun, was glad to help out.
It was an interesting experience. I had to leave early, but I enjoyed the time I did spend there. It was a shame Bongani didn't make it.
It was a great experience with a whole lot of mulch and friendly people.
