During my shift as a Homework Helper, I enjoyed working with my student Kaylie. In our time, we were able to work on theatre arts homework and grade-level math. Through my experience, I learned to have patience with myself and my student, while focusing on the needs of the students I am mentoring. I hope to return to continue as a Homework Helper.
I genuinely enjoyed this Digital Service Event. The host walked us through some statistics and explained that every 1 in 10 persons experiences food insecurity which is unfathomable. However, my favorite portion of the event was being able to walk through a simulation that allowed us to spend a 'day in the life' of someone who has food insecurity. This simulation allowed me to realize the importance of adequate access to food and become more grateful for the resources I am surrounded by.
I genuinely enjoyed my experience at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The atmosphere was very chill, and the staff was open to answering all the questions I had. They truly wanted to serve people which is very inspirational to see.
I enjoyed this event because of the ability to bond with my Spelman sisters and Morehouse brothers. We were able to showcase our talents and continue the legacy of Spelhouse Tradition.
