By donating school supplies to the Greensboro community through the Mentor For H.E.R back to school drive I felt a sense of accomplishment and joy for those children who will be able to go to school this year with things they need in order to learn and succeed.
Helping organize and sort the clothes & food items within backpack beginnings was truly a great experience, to be able to know that our help will be able to aid families coming in and shopping for their clothing and grocery needs really brought great joy to the overall experience!
Had a great time participating in the Young Scientist and Technologist Day Volunteering Activity where Chemistry Club had an escape room activity for students to engage in chemistry puzzles to “escape” in 30min.
Organized and helped demonstrate the elephant toothpaste experiment to high school students during the Young Scientist & Technologists Day. Also engaged in wonderful discussion on different career opportunities available in the field of STEM, specifically with a Chemistry degree. Great experience!
The NCAT Chemistry Club in collaboration with Nerdy Colorist hosted a volunteer event that had a panel of NCAT students (including myself) discussing college overall and stem career/goals/opportunities available to high school students. With this volunteer event I had the pleasure of answering all questions and sharing my college experience with high school students. Along with that I helped to clear up any misconceptions that high school students share about college and college entrances. Overall, I had a great time connecting with high school students and hopefully help lead them towards the right path with college.
