I was involved with the meal prep aspect of helping assist the kitchen staff in preparing and serving a meal to men, women, and families experiencing homelessness. I also created about eighty bags containing silverware, sugar, napkins, and etc.

    Danielle @ Spelman Pathways

I recently attended a community service event where I assisted the kitchen staff at Salvation Army in preparing and serving meals to women, men, and families. Attending the Spelman Pathways workshop Career and Self Development: Honoring your gifts and talents helped me realize about myself that I like giving back to others and I like volunteering. I was very busy with my different classes this semester but I realized that I would like serving more. The network opportunity that I took advantage of at my community service placement is that I networked with one of the other volunteers there and she was an Howard Alum. We connected as we spoke about HBCU culture and she gave me great personal advice and school advice that I will hold on to for the future.

I attend the Career and Self-Development Honoring your Gifts and Talents talk. We split up into groups to speak about what could make us stand out and what are dream careers are and how we can achieve that. We talked about the importance of networking and putting yourself out there.

Danielle - I just sent you an email explaining that you have to apply what you learned in the workshop to a community service you have already completed in order to earn the 2 Bonus hours.

Danielle - again, you have to apply what you learned in the workshop to a community service activity that you've done, not discuss what you did in the workshop. The prompt is "What did your community service make you more aware of about yourself? What networking opportunity did you take advantage of at your community service placement?". Please respond to the prompt in order to be given credit. Please email me directly if you have questions, kkight@spelman.edu.
