It was the very first time I helped incoming freshmen move in to the residence halls, specifically I was helping Jester residents. At first, everything was a bit confusing and it was up to me and another volunteer to help sort out the issues that were happening. Parents were becoming a bit frustrated and I became empathetic not only for the parents but the students as well. We tried our best to provide a smooth and stress-free transition for the students and their parent’s welcoming them into their daughters and sons new home.

I had such a great time in the BRP Residence Hall Event for Gilmore Girls. The event consisted of setting up the food and chairs where residents could comfortably sit and enjoy the watch party. It was a great experience interacting with the BRP residents and especially with the wonderful President of the Residence Hall Council. I thank them all for welcoming me in to their home and allowing me to help in whatever I could.
It was a great opportunity to volunteer at Casa Marianella every Tuesday from 12-4pm of the 2015 fall semester through a service learning project for my Social Work course. It was greatly rewarding to help refugees from around the world with job applications, resumes, housing applications, and general information about the Austin community. As a refugee, It’s difficult to become accustomed to a life so different from the one you had back home. I am extremely happy and satisfied to have spent my time helping others to better themselves and their life’s here in Austin.
Giving the runners water was fun and amusing. Watching all the runners with different costumes and what not was as well great. The fun run was great and an awesome experience and I even got to meet different people making it even better.
I met a lot of different people and I had a really nice time. I was able to greet them and learned to do something completely new, making it a different experience. I would really consider volunteering again.
I really enjoyed seeing everybody smile and having a laugh or two at our singing. People are very stressed especially with finals coming up so for them to get the Christmas spirit motivation to get going and pass finals was amazing.
