    Special Scholarships Program

I am a proud member of WOW (Women of Wisdom)—an organization filled with kind, supportive, and empowering women. I was honored to be selected for an incredible opportunity to attend the National Student Leadership Diversity Conference (NSLDC) in Orlando, Florida. The three-day conference was thoughtfully structured: the first day began with a welcome session, followed by various breakout sessions on day two that covered topics relevant to our everyday lives and personal growth. The final day included another engaging session and a closing ceremony. One session that deeply resonated with me was titled "Sorry." During this discussion, we explored the different ways we use the word "sorry" in our daily lives—often unnecessarily or habitually. Hearing others share their experiences helped me reflect on my own use of the word and inspired me to become more intentional about how and when I apologize.
Overall, I truly valued this experience and plan to apply the lessons I learned to improve myself and how I interact with others in my daily life.

Mentorship: A Mutually Beneficial Relationship (WOW participants only)

This event was inspirational and informative. I got to hear how Ms. Mariah found her mentorship and understanding why she chose her mentor specifically. The goal of this event was to help us get a mentor and not just any mentor a good mentor that would best suit you. I myself don't have a mentor so I will use the tips I got to help me find a good mentor.

During this event, we packaged feminine products for women who are in need of these products. The bags consisted of pads, liners, wipes, bras, breast exam flyers, and encouraging words. This event was very special and I felt so good in myself being able to help package these products for women in need. There was also a guest speaker there that shared some inspirational remarks of her life and how it shaped her to want to help people. I also got to interact with different peers and learn something new about them. Overall I think this was an impactful and engaging event.

    Scholarship Session #2 (Thursday-VIRTUAL)

I enjoyed this meeting because I got to know more about Mr. Ashanti Martinez and what he does and most importantly why he does what he does. There was a discussion on the 2024 election and people's thoughts and concerns and they were all informative and I could relate. I am grateful for the state I live in and the people who are our delegates. I have hope now and don't feel defeated after Trump won the election.
