Impacts
At this Feed the Streets event, the AUC Vybz Caribbean Student Association teamed up with Lovingstone to provide and serve cultural dishes to members of the unhoused community around Woodruff Park. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect my love for service with my appreciation for my culture, while also creating a space for connection and compassion. Being able to share a part of my heritage with others in need was truly fulfilling and reminded me of the power of community.
During this time, I also assisted with a tabling event at Clark Atlanta to help raise awareness for the upcoming Feed the Streets event, which was scheduled for the next afternoon with AUC Vybz. It was a great opportunity to engage with students, inform them about the cause, and encourage them to get involved. We shared details about the event, the importance of community service, and how they could contribute, whether through volunteering or spreading the word.
On that day, I had the opportunity to serve meals and offer clothing donations to the unhoused population around Woodruff Park. Seeing the gratitude on people's faces as they received a meal or even a simple tshirt reminded me of the impact even small acts of kindness can have. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and how a simple gesture can bring comfort to those in need.
