Transport Volunteer
Transports all animals to and from off-site adoption locations, shelter facilities and media/adoption events. Provides secure transportation to pets who are in need of gaining a safe, temporary or permanent residence. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates logistics of transport needs on behalf of the organization (i.e. rescue pick up, chauffeuring animals to/from medical or therapy visits, picking-up donations or helping with special event transport) 
  • Picks up dogs from the source agency, and transport them to the receiving agency
  • Understands requirements and restrictions of receiving partners
  • Ensures animals are social enough for transport; notify partners of any behavior issues prior to transport
  • Ensures animals are healthy and have no signs of contagious disease prior to transport; coordinates with veterinarian to provide accurate notation of any non-contagious medical issues to partner shelters prior to transport. 
  • Ensures animals are as comfortable as possible during transport, never overcrowd or put in crates that are too large or small (always follow established transport protocols)
  • Familiar with transport protocols; provides transport animals with exceptional care before, during, and after transport
  • Ensures all crates are secured prior to transport departure
  • Ensures all animals have adequate food, water, and bedding prior to transport and during transport
  • Ensures there are emergency and animal care supplies on the van during all transports
  • Ensures all animals are loaded with care into their crates
  • Ensures all animals on the transport list are loaded and that all descriptions match the loaded animals, missing animals or sending the wrong animals is unacceptable 
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and proof of car insurance
