About
Pirates Give Virtual Day of Service allows for students to complete individual service projects on their own and receive two hours of verified volunteer credit in Give Pulse. All service projects will be completed individually and students should spend TWO hours on the service project they select.
The options below can be completed on your own time and in your own home, dorm room, or the community. After completing your virtual volunteer project you will need to complete the Virtual Volunteer Submission Form in order to receive the two hours of service. If you have any questions about these options please email Alex Dennis at dennisa15@ecu.edu. If you have other ideas for service, please just email me to make sure it will count, before starting the project.
All virtual projects and the Virtual Volunteer Submission Form must be completed by 5pm on February 25, 2022 in order to receive credit. Volunteers will receive an email to confirm their submission and hours. The service project does NOT have to take place between 9 and 11 am on 2/19.

Virtual Volunteer Options:
- Write letters or emails to government officials advocating for policy change on a social issue that you are passionate about. More info on contacting elected officials here: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials
- Mentor or tutor students virtually or in-person (It is okay if this is a family member, family friend, etc.)
- Chalk the sidewalks with inspiring messages outside of a nursing home (ask the nursing home first!)
- Help neighbors paint or repair something outside their home.
- Make signs or a social media campaign to promote voting.
- Organize a social media campaign to raise awareness about a social issue.
- Record a short radio commercial or PSA about a local issue to raise awareness and share via your social media.
- Clean up trash in a nearby nature trail or in your local community.
- Design or update a website or social media channel for a local organization.
- Write comforting letters to soldiers in the military or first responders.
