Trail Work Day

The Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club works in partnership with the National Park Service to support the historical and recreational value of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. The organization focuses on  maintaining the hiking, running and equestrian trails in sustainable, environmentally friendly ways that are protective of the historic features that the park was created to preserve. In support of this mission, the club organizes monthly trail work days at which volunteers work under the direction of trained crew leaders on planned work projects in various areas of the 3000 acre park with its 20+ miles of trails.

We organize Trail Work Days that are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month, from 8:00am to 12:00.  Volunteers meet at the registration site (listed with the club's event,  After signing registration forms, they are given directions, and instructions for the day's trail work projects.  Volunteers will be assigned to crews under the direction of trained crew leaders.  Work gloves and tools (shovels, rakes, Pulaskis) will be provided.  Work can be quite strenuous and usually involves hiking to the worksite.  Volunteers should wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and work clothes.  Water will be provided but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water, snacks and work gloves.  Please sign up to volunteer on the Volunteer KSU website (https://kennesaw.givepulse.com/group/682754-Kennesaw-Mountain-Trail-Club). We will not contact you directly unless there are changes to the event's information.

Registration will be at 8:00am at Pigeon Hill and 1524 Burnt Hickory Road  (Corner of Burnt Hickory and Old Mountain Road).

Volunteer Service Agreements are attached to the group's home page.

Join us for great outdoor exercise, a physical challenge and awesome teamwork!  You will make a lasting environmental contribution to an historically significant site.
