About

Handy with a sewing machine? Enjoy working with teens? Sign up to volunteer for our first Teen Fix-It Clinic!

It will be on September 14, 2023, at the Southeast Branch of the Austin Public Library, 4-6 p.m. We will kick the event off with a hand-sewing basics workshop taught by a staff member from the Southeast Library. Then attendees will be able to work with you to repair an item they brought from home.

Our emphasis is on education, so please teach attendees how to repair and not simply do it for them. We will provide tools and equipment for common repairs that you may use. You may also bring your own if you prefer!

We are so grateful to all our volunteers. We couldn't put these on without you! For questions, comments, or concerns contact CircularEconomy@austintexas.gov.

As a Sewing Repair Coach, you may be dealing (but not necessarily) with anything from hemming pants to sewing on a button to fixing zippers. If there is anything that you are not comfortable with, please email us at circulareconomy@austintexas.gov.
