Soil Restoration

Join in spreading mulch to restore, enhance, and protect the soil on the Hike and Bike Trail! 

Soil health is the foundation of ecology. The soil restoration events will consist of mulch spreading, aeration of turf areas, amending areas with compost, and establishment of vegetation in bare spots within the areas below. These activities will reduce stormwater runoff and soil erosion, enhance slope protection, and aid in weed suppression before the Texas summer heat starts. 

Event Details: 

• Meeting Location: Entrance of Peace Point. Please look out for an orange TTC tent or TTC Flag

• Parking Information: Free Parking along South Lakeshore Blvd 

• What to bring and wear: Wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and sun protection (sunglasses and a hat). Bring a filled water bottle.

Los eventos de restauración del suelo consistirán en la aplicación de mantillo, la aireación de las áreas de césped, la modificación de las áreas con abono y el establecimiento de vegetación en áreas descubiertas. Estas actividades reducirán la escorrentía de aguas pluviales y la erosión del suelo, mejorarán la protección de las pendientes y ayudarán a suprimir las malezas antes de que comience el calor del verano en Texas.
