About
Artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT can be extremely helpful and powerful in increasing your bandwidth as a grant writer. It can help you generate new ideas about a problem or a project. It can help you overcome that blinking cursor on a blank page by providing you ideas on how to get started. However, when ChatGPT and other AI tools are not used effectively, they can sometimes compromise the strength of your grant applications. Proposals generated by AI often suffer from common weaknesses: lack of specificity on the issue to be addressed or project activity, hyperbolic verbiage of the AI tool overshadows or conflicts with the writer's authentic voice, and insufficient evidence to support the often broad claims generated from AI prompts.
Join us as Sarah Summers, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Franklin College, shares her insights about how you can use ChatGPT more effectively in grant writing. As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- describe the benefits and limitations of using ChatGPT for grant writing
- identify specific stages in the grant writing process where ChatGPT can be useful
- write effective prompts for grant writing tasks
- examine the ethical implications of using AI tools in grant writing
