Rowing Dock Cleanup

Hello Volunteers! We’d like to thank you for volunteering with Keep Austin Beautiful! You have signed up to participate in the Rowing Dock cleanup. As a reminder this is a kayak only based cleanup! Rowing Dock will have all of the kayaking supplies for you. 

Your Lake Leader for this site will be Lauren Carson with Keep Austin Beautiful and she will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

Event Details

·    Starting Location: The Rowing Dock (2418 Stratford Dr, Austin, TX 78746)

·    Parking: Parking is available on site & there is additional parking available underneath the Mopac bridge. (76CG+QQ Austin, Texas) Please leave valuables and non-essential items at home. Do not leave your valuables in your car (even if you think you've hidden them). Zilker Park has seen an increase in car theft. Rowing Dock is not responsible for any stolen/damaged items. 

·    Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water, a hat, and a snack

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity. 
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
• Per Texas State Law, life vests are required for everyone and must be worn at all times for anyone 13 years and younger. For more information please visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife page on life jackets.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
