Bonner Scholar Service 2025-2026

Morehouse College Bonner Scholars partnered with the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA) to support environmental education, community engagement, and local history preservation in West Atlanta. As volunteers, students assisted with the WAWA History Project, helping document the organization’s legacy and its impact on environmental justice in Atlanta.

Participants also joined Proctor Creek clean-up events, helping remove litter, restore the creek, and promote awareness about water pollution and community health. In addition, Bonner Scholars supported WAWA’s educational programs, leading and assisting with youth learning activities focused on watershed conservation, ecology, and sustainability.

This service experience allowed Morehouse students to engage directly in environmental justice work, strengthen community partnerships, and contribute to WAWA’s mission of empowering residents to protect, preserve, and restore their natural environment.
