About
Let’s get into some “good trouble” for a greener future.
This Black History Month and Georgia Arbor Day, we are gathering at the John Lewis Flowering Forest to honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis by caring for the land and for one another. Together, we will plant trees, nurture Atlanta’s urban forest, and grow our community’s roots.
This service day is about more than planting trees. It is about building a city where our neighborhoods are cooler, our air is cleaner, and our communities have access to healthy green spaces. It is about showing up for Atlanta and doing the work that sustains our collective future.
What you’ll do
Volunteers will work in teams to plant and care for trees throughout the site. Tasks may include digging holes, handling soil and mulch, watering trees, and helping restore the space. This is an active, outdoor service project, so come ready to move, work together, and get a little dirty.
No prior experience is needed. Trees Atlanta staff will guide us every step of the way and provide all tools and instruction.
What to wear and bring
- Closed-toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty
- Reusable water bottle
- Sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks as needed
This project takes place rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe. Please note that restrooms are not available on site.
Come spend Arbor Day building something beautiful and lasting for our city, our neighborhoods, and our future.
