About

Join Georgia State alumni, faculty, staff and students for a service project at the Community Garden at GSU Decatur. This volunteer opportunity focuses on providing support for our Decatur campus community garden.

Volunteers will be weeding, mulching, digging, pruning, harvesting, and planting seeds. The Decatur Community Garden grows 1,000 pounds of food a year, which is donated to students, staff, and the community.

The GSU Community Garden allows students, faculty, staff and the community to learn how to grow their own food using sustainable methods. They provide seeds, plants and tools for free to anyone who wants to learn how to garden. Plots are also available for free. The garden is located on the Decatur campus of Georgia State University's Perimeter College. There are two main garden areas - the Native Plant Botanical Garden and the Ferns of the World. There are over 4000 species of native, rare, and endangered plants indigenous to the Southeast and US. The mission of both gardens is to educate the public about US native plants and temperate ferns by providing a teaching environment.
