Sunset Stewardship: Red Bluff (4/13/2026)

Join us for Sunset Stewardship☀️🌱 — a golden-hour gathering for folks who want to give back to the land after the workday ends. On Monday evenings in spring and fall, we’ll spend about 90 minutes in community, taking on small but mighty projects shaped by each site’s ecological needs.

🌸 For the month of April, we'll be heading to Red Bluff Preserve. Depending on the weather and soil conditions, we will water, weed, remove competing invasives, and check on the health of about 900 tree seedlings that were planted during an earlier Tree Folks event. With the lack of consistent rain, these little guys could use some help to give them the greatest chance of survival through the season. If we get some solid rain in the days leading up to the workday, we'll pivot from watering to other important tasks needed at the preserve! If the seedlings do need water, one group will draw water from the nearby creek, and the other group will blanket the area with watering cans, making sure each seedling gets a drink.

📍🚗 Meeting Time & Location: We'll meet at the preserve entrance at 5699 Tura Ln around 5:45 pm. You can park anywhere along the street in this area, but please don't block anyone's driveway. Please note: this is not the entrance on Harold Court that is listed on the Google Maps address (I have parked there many times on accident, and it's a significant drive/hike to get to the other side 😅).

🧤 Gloves, insect repellent, a water bottle, and close-toed shoes are all good ideas for this location.

📝 Some Background: For decades, this ecologically rich area was used as an illegal dumping ground. After heroic, multi-generational, community-led efforts to protect this land prevailed, it officially became Red Bluff Preserve in 2019. Bryan Parsons, a true leader in Red Bluff's ongoing restoration, will be there along with some other dedicated stewards. They can answer your questions about this incredible space...also, there's an awesome view from the top of the bluff, if anyone is interested in hiking up there afterwards. ☺️🌅
