Weed Warriors: Hairy Willow Herb Wipeout

Join us for a hands-on conservation effort to combat the spread of Hairy Willow-Herb, an invasive species threatening local wetlands and riparian ecosystems in Longmont. They can grow up to 6 feet tall and produce up to 70,000 wind-dispersed seeds per plant, rapidly forming dense colonies that displace native vegetation and degrade wildlife habitats .

Volunteers will work alongside city staff to manually remove this noxious weed from targeted areas, preventing its spread and promoting the health of our natural areas. No prior experience is necessary; all tools and training will be provided. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to local conservation efforts and gain hands-on experience in invasive species management.

Location: St Vrain Greenway parking lot

Lunch will be provided and a weed warrior t-shirt will be given to all participants at the end of the event! Further project details will be sent out 3-5 days in advance.
