About
Join the Effort to Restore Colorado’s Natural Beauty!
Come get your hands dirty for a great cause! Join the Natural Lands team for a rewarding day of habitat restoration and conservation around the beautiful Boulder Reservoir. This is your chance to make a real difference in local ecosystems while learning about the plants that shape our landscapes.
Together, we’ll tackle the removal of teasel (Dipsacus fullonum l.), a noxious weed threatening native habitats. Along the way, you'll gain valuable knowledge about invasive species, the native plants we're working to protect, and how habitat management supports local wildlife—all while connecting with like-minded nature lovers.
🌿 What to Expect:
-
Hands-on habitat restoration (primarily weed removal)
-
Education on noxious weeds and native plant species in Colorado
-
Insights into how this work benefits birds, pollinators, and other wildlife
-
Time outdoors in a stunning natural setting
🌞 Bonus: After the project, stick around to enjoy a group lunch—bring your own food, a chair and/or blanket to sit on and relax for a picnic with fellow volunteers!
Whether you're a seasoned conservationist or a first-time volunteer, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and give back to nature. Let’s protect our wild places—together.
It is recommended to bring your own thick work gloves (leather if possible) as teasel is a prickly weed. Garden gloves will be available if you do not have a pair.
Snacks, water, garden gloves, and sunscreen will be provided. Please wear close-toed shoes, pants, and long sleeves for this project to allow for optimal safety and comfort.
Specific meeting and parking locations will be shared the week of the project.
Tasks may involve crouching, bending, sitting on the ground, etc. Come prepared for the weather with many layers and sun protection.
Minors over the age of 12 can volunteer if accompanied by a parent/guardian. All participants under 18 years of age must have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian prior to the event. Only a parent/guardian can register minors.
Requirements
Age Limit: 12 and up. Only a parent/guardian can register minors. Minors over the age of 12 can volunteer if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
