DNA Extraction Lab

During this event, a group of volunteers will facilitate a lab-like instructional period. Students will first learn about DNA and why it is important. We will then lead them through a hands-on strawberry DNA extraction, beginning with a step-by-step explanation of how the lab will be conducted before students are separated into groups to complete the lab. We will end with a discussion of what students took away from the lab and how it directly aligns with future careers. This aligns with STEMantics goal of educating students on STEM-related topics.
