Support Nonprofits Impacted by COVID-19

Glad I could help. Wasn't sure I was 100% needed, but I think I took a little burden off the plate of the head chef who has been working long hours.

I felt obligated to attend because the volunteer coordinator told me my presence was critical for people experiencing homelessness. When I arrived, many of the safety precautions I was told about were not in place. I made direct contact with sick people and I think the organization could have functioned perfectly fine without my presence. I understand it's really hard for nonprofits to function right now with a limited volunteer supply, but I also think it's unfair to pressure hesitant volunteers into putting themselves at risk.

I am glad I volunteered. I helped prepare and serve food to support at risk women and transgenders. Overall, I felt they were prepared for my help, I added value and my potential exposure to the coronavirus was minimal. I plan to volunteer there again.

I really enjoyed my volunteer experience. Everyone was very nice and it felt great to be able to give back!
