As I sent more time with the children at RSP, I realized how important it is for a teacher to remain committed to serving their students and modeling citizenship. I learned that young students are highly impressionable and feed off of joyful and hopeful interactions.
While at Kennesaw Elementary, I helped students read books and helped wherever necessary. Typically, this involved moving the students to and from classrooms for different clubs. It also included completing surveys about their learning experiences at RSP.
I grew closer to the students with what little time I had, and I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering here.
On this day I learned more about accommodating children during rain and other unplanned events!
Had a great time working with 2nd graders in their after school clubs at Kennesaw Elementary School. The staff are helpful, the kids were great, and I learned how to make a checkerboard out of clay!
During each day I went to a different after-school class to help out. I loved getting to see the variety of activities they did. From crocheting to creative writing, the students seemed engaged and ready to learn. I found it help me get a feel for not only what grade I may want to teach in the future, but also the subject as well. I hope to get to work with/volunteer for this program again in the future!
I had an amazing time working on pom pom making with Ms. Anne during my time at RSP at KES.
I was at Kennesaw Elementry and worked with Kindergarteners in multiple clubs.
I helped out with the knitting club and interacted with kindergarten- 2nd graders.
I learned even more about working with children in the school setting, and really had fun!
