(Copied from above) The only issue we had on the volunteer side was that by the time 6pm came, we were still waiting for bags to be picked up and taken to the aid stations. I was unable to wait to help load because of the delay and we weren't sure how long we'd be waiting.
Also, I think it would be helpful if volunteers were emailed information prior to their respective shift that would help them answer the athlete's questions. FAQs we received were, When's the latest I can drop my bag? Is there not a bag drop at Hope Pass? The athlete guides says we only hit Mayqueen once, is that true? Is this type of bag ok?
Again, I appreciate the opportunity to volunteer. I highlighted my comments above, but for clarity, the drop bag collectors simply need more bags. We ran out of bags and had to resort to boxes and bins to use for the runner's drop bags. Our collector bags were overflowing and hard to move. Just having more bags would have made it alot better. I'm happy to purchase bags for use next year if that's necessary.
Lunch for the drop bag collectors didn't come until close to 3pm.
Rochelle is a great volunteer coordinator!
Well organized, good communication and a lot of good people taking part.
