9/11 Day of Service

Saturday, September 7th, 2024 from 9:00am to 2:00pm

Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House was such a wonderful experience as it is such a welcoming environment. While there I was able to learn the many incredible ways they support families whose children are in the hospital. They really are a home away from home for many people and their work is truly inspiring. I was so happy to contribute to their service by cleaning the playroom and kitchen and also decorating the house with Halloween decorations. I really hope that those small acts can help bring a smile to a kid or their family while also making them feel cared for and supported in a moment of hardship.

Through this 9/11 day of service, I was able to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House here in Greenville, NC. The experience was an excellent reminder to always display gratitude and compassion for others. At the Ronald McDonald House, I was able to assist in cleaning up the children's playroom, organizing supplies, and decorating for the fall season. Afterwards, my peers and I met back at ECU to discuss the events of 9/11. The entirety of that portion was a reflective experience, and overall, it was a rewarding day to be a part of.
