Heart of Texas 2026 Regatta

I was a Trailmaster for 3 days. It was mostly smooth sailing and very enjoyable. The presence of at least one experienced Dockmaster was helpful.

One issue was a boat launching on the Recovery dock without authorization. I had been told that when things get busy, the Control Commission might send a boat to Recovery for launching. I asked the two people carrying the boat if they were supposed to launch here and they said yes. That turned out to be false. This created some confusion on the dock.

A suggestion would be to have one -- and only one -- color of an "exception ticket". Possibly yellow. Only the Control Commission would issue these yellow tickets. The boat takes the ticket to the Recovery Trailmaster. If a boat presents with no yellow ticket, then it is directed to the Control Commission for instructions.

I can't comment if this would be necessary for the HotSeat dock.
