It was a great experience. I had done the Chicago Triathlon as a participant in years past but my 22 year old son had not. He and I are planing to run the race together next year and I thought volunteering this year would be a great way to introduce him to the event. I enjoyed volunteering more than actually doing the race and my son had a great time, too. It was really well organized and there were plenty of resources for us and for the participants (food, water, etc.). It was a crazy hot day so some of our job entailed looking for people who might need added attention at the end of the race. There was no shortage of those; we directed/helped many people to the medical tent/misters/ice baths. For the size of the event, it is really well run and when we do the race next year, we will have a new appreciation for how much it takes to put it on. Thank you for allowing us to participate.
