Austin Common Ground Relief was started after a terrible flood hit the south side of Austin,Tx displacing people from their homes and destroying their belongings. The part I helped with was food preparation and distribution to the flood site. It was such a heart warming experience to see how much food was donated not only from organizations like Keep Austin Fed but how many individuals came with food and clothing, heaters and things of that sort to help the families. Even now Austin Common Ground Relief is still helping the families of Onion Creek and the surrounding neighborhoods. Standing in solidarity with the ones affected a neighborhood alliance was formed in the area to empower the people affected. It's only been 5 months so of course not everything is back to normal but I am so grateful for the time I was able to give.
