This summer, I returned to my neighborhood to volunteer with the MiCasa Program at Little Tokyo Service Center. There I facilitated day to day activities, engaged students with games and programming, and maintained a covid-safe environment for the safety of the students and staff. I chaperoned field trips, assisted in facilitating workshops, and managed food prep and distribution.

Returning back home to California as a result of the pandemic created opportunities for me to volunteer and organize within the community I grew up in. This semester I served as a mentor and tutor for two children for one hour each every week. In our sessions I would provide homework help as well as provide emotional support that is desperately needed in a pandemic. It has been one of the best experiences this semester.
