Stephanie Baltierra

This weekend I participated with many other friends and fellow classmates in a community event. This community event was with Spark Magazine. My friend Mariah which is an assistant to this magazine asked for a helping hand. Spark magazine is an organization that shows off the fashion world. I helped with a photo shoot managing clothes for each shoot, passing out flyers, and helping promote their launch party. Promoting lead to the heart of mostly females and loving themselves for who they are. I also helped with printing flyers, making post cards, and taking phone calls. I enjoyed the experience, because beauty comes in many different forms. It even taught me to appreciate the person I am. I know that now-a-days not everyone considers themselves fashionable, or worthy of having people talk about them in a positive perspective. All women need to help bring one another together to continue to get past struggles from the fashion world or any confidence level.

My aunt is apart of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for Austin. I helped file paperwork for her next meetings to discuss certain topics for future development here in Austin. I also delivered copies to other chairmen for their new agendas and to the city council. I enjoy doing this because I have learned so much through this chamber. They have also made an impact for me to look into gentrification that has been in austin. Also they have spoken to my internship organization which is Project Males.

The Padgett Strateman & Co hosted with Big Brothers/Big Sisters in their Christmas Holiday Event. The company provided two photo booths, picture frames, games,toys, and candies to the Bigs and Littles. We would help encourage them to write on their picture frames a special holiday message to their big/little. It was a great turnout. They played games, ate lunch, the littles were able to pick out one Christmas gift, and took numerous amounts of photos to have for keep-sake. Definitely a wonderful turnout and a great experience.

Myself and 5 other friends each took our dogs to zilker park friday morning and while allowing them to get exercise and have fun we also did a park clean up. We walked the entire loop about 5 times picking up trash long the way and disposing of it properly, we recycled plastic bottles, paper trash, and even picked up items we seen floating in the water that we could reach. It was a great success. We decided to do this because a time before my friend and her dog went to the park and her dog got tangled in a plastic thing from the cans of coke and some left over trash that was laying around.

Well I enjoyed what our ULN class came up with as a community service project. What we did was we gave out candy and inspirational quotes to students for finals. We wanted to cheer the students up and tell them that they can push through finals.

Overall I found this foundation a great one. The leaders to the different projects going on today were full of energy. The children that I worked with were great. The way this foundation has grown is a great thing for all the families in need. I was happy to be apart of this volunteer act.
