The Blueprint for Success - Resume Workshop (mini session)

For this session, I learned how to create a more effective resume to ensure I get the job that I am applying for. It thought me that you can still add past job experience unrelated to the job you are applying for as long as you include the skills that you learned that you think will be helpful for your future job. I also learned about the formatting needed for making a resume (fonts, header, etc.)

    Special Scholarships Program

For today's event, I attended the PGCC open house and visited many booths. These includes the paramedics, arts, park police, culinary arts, and many more. They also gave special tours for high school students, which gave them the opportunity to explore what's available at PGCC. I also worked with Doctor Howard, the allied health coordinator, to share information about PGCC's allied health programs. It was a fun event. They gave a lot of free items, donuts, and coffee. I would love to attend another event like this.

Mental Health: Emotional Wellness, Healthy Relationships & Productivity - Mini Session #3 (VIRTUAL)

In today's session, I learned about the impact of emotional wellness on productivity. Emotional wellness is the ability to manage and express our emotions in a healthy and constrictive way. My understanding of this is you can handle your emotions without destroying yourself or others. If you are not emotionally stable, it blocks your ability to become productive. Another thing that I learned today, is maintaining healthy relationships through proper communication.

The topics for today includes, the purpose of seeing assigned advisors, which could help a student with specific concerns about the student's chosen program. They showed us how to find our assigned advisor and the process of how to make an appointment. I also learned the best time to schedule an appointment. There was information about the difference about special scholarship progress report vs. navigate progress report. The scholarship progress report is initiated by students every semester. Meanwhile navigate progress reported is initiated by the professors.

Transfer: What Next? (Scholarship "mini" Session 1)

I learned that the average tuition at community college is about $4,000 annually, which is significantly low compared to private institutions costing roughly $12,000 per year, not including other miscellaneous fees. I still believe that community college is the most practical way to pursue your career, avoiding any unnecessary loans. This session also talked about transfer scholarships. I enjoyed listening to this session.
