We packed over two bins filled with bags that will be given to children to eat over the weekend. I enjoyed helping the community and networking with other volunteers
I enjoyed meeting fellow Aggies who are from Virginia and helping with hunger in the community by sorting foods based on expiration dates. Volunteering was a great team effort that paid off because we sorted over two 2,000+ lbs of food in two hours.
I had the opportunity to baked brownies and other sweet treats with Ronald McDonald volunteers. It was a pleasure to get a tour of the house , where families stay who have sick children in the hospital. The sweets were given to the families at the house and at the Ronald McDonald Cone Health family room! I enjoyed meeting other volunteers and contributing to others happiness.
I had the opportunity to volunteer and train another volunteer on how to restock and run the hospitality cart. The cart is taken to the mother/baby unit and OB floors of the Cone Health Hospital and I interacted with patients and staff while offering them snacks, beverages, or activities. The patients and staff were all friendly and thankful for the kind gesture. It was good to know that I made their days brighter before the holidays.
