We ran out of water with a lot of runners already out of water. We had two crews dispatched to MayQueen and the Damn for more, but many runners went out of Carter outbound empty. It was heartbreaking. Hawaiian Shirt Ray: “I know this is not your fault, but this sucks”. He DNF at Winfield, as it took him almost 3.5 to teach Hope Pass Out, with a valid time TwinLakes out. Ray is a seasoned LT finisher, Leadville takes no prisoners for early mistakes. We were giving runners water from our own water bottles. I think we had about 8 or 9 jugs to start and we really needed 15. If we rationed from the start, we would not have given runners what they needed.

Sarah. (Maybe Sara), asked me to go up the course to radio front runners. Note pad and pencil would help this task. Also, a list of who they are looking for male and female front runners for each race. 1st, 2nd and 3rd (male/female), for each race is 6 x 6.
Had the best time working with Lifetime and Volunteers packet pick up stuffing bags and issuing bibs. Will definitely do this again next year.
As someone blessed to have crossed back over the red carpet in all events; this was my first time presenting medals to finishers who were overcome with emotions. That alone was payment for my 9 hours of volunteer time. Priceless no matter how you look at it. Lifetime is luck to have Quinn and Tamira. Nobody replaces Ken and Merilee; however, those two are the next leaders. I was honored to be here and work in their shadows. So thankful
This volunteer event was originally scheduled for Carter Summit, but it was actually Printer Boy, and then I got pulled to guide riders at CR2, and stop slow traffic. Does Lifetime need a Safety Officer?
So many wonderful people associated with Leadville Family, honored that I am included.
Matt, Cale, Emma, Toby, Chris and medical team were awesome to work with. Having crew two years in a row helped make this more enjoyable. Breakfast was a treat! Will come back next year.
You can’t control the weather. It was 29 degrees at 5:30 and I doubt it got much warmer. We were in a tent, that thankfully had a heater. The breakfast burritos were amazing.
So blessed to be able to experience the Leadville community year after year either as a runner crew pacer cyclist or just a spectator breathing in the air. I am so glad so blessed to have experienced every perspective the Leadville race series Stafford I will always come back brings Me so much joy
