2023 Garmin UNBOUND Gravel presented by Craft Sportswear

Although the checkpoint set up was made easy by having it close to a water source and convenient parking for volunteers... it was quite a bit of a trip for the riders coming from a nice downhill grade to an uphill aid station. It was shaded and well worth the climb, however we had little interest in stopping due to the long trip. Many riders decided they would rather keep going than waste their energy going out of their way. The ones that stopped said it was WELL WORTH the extra mileage. As a group, we thought it would have been better positioned closer to the course (at the south entrance gate of the Golf Course rather than the parking lot) especially in the case of an emergent aid. We ended up renting a golf cart in the event of an emergency and had it closer to the road. The amount and variety of snacks and refreshments was WONDERFUL, the access to a port-a-potty was GREAT and all of the supplies being delivered to the location was AMAZING.

Thank you for this feedback, Lorrin. I know there was some debate about where to house this. There is not much space at the road south/entrance. I will pass this along to Ben.
